Ice Age National Scenic Trail

This trail covers 1,000 miles in the state of Wisconsin. You’ll see the features a glacier left as it receded thousands of years ago. While the trail goes through 31 counties as it winds from Potawatomi State Park in Sturgeon Bay to Interstate State Park in Saint Croix Falls, you can take a day trip on the Blue Hills segment, which is close to Rice Lake.

If you want to do some actual hiking, make this a two-day trip and head out to some segments that are for off road hiking. The Blue Hills segment is less than 20 miles from Rice Lake. Head over to Bucks Lake Road and CTH-F to start. End at CTH-F Trail Access. If you’re making a weekend of it, bring a tent for some primitive camping.

Pepin, Wisconsin

Take a trip to Pepin to visit the birthplace of Laura Ingalls Wilder. Stop by the museum, gift shop and, if you have time, take the Laura Ingalls Wilder Historic Highway to see sites linked to Wilder across the upper Midwest. The museum is located at 306 3rd Street (State Highway 35). Admission to the gift shop is free. Admission to the museum is $14 for an immediate family package, $25 for an annual pass for one person, $5 for an adult one-time visit and $2 for students from kindergarten through college age. 2016 Ford Fusion Energi SE

This model gets 95 MPGe* in the city and 81 MPGe on the highway. If you use the Fusion Energi SE in all electric mode, you’ll get about 19 miles. This model uses a regenerative braking system to capture and store energy for later use.

The Powertrains

The F-150 comes with a 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine. This is the second generation for this technology. This year’s EcoBoost four-cylinder makes 325 horsepower and 375 pound-feet of torque. The engine features a compacted upper iron block and features auto stop and start. This model gets 19 mpg* in the city and 26 mpg* on the highway, the highest of an half-ton truck.

The F-150 has a max payload of 3,270 pounds and can tow up to 8,500 pounds. Because of the way the truck is built, it’s lighter and can carry or tow more weight. Max payload is about 1,000 pounds more than other trucks.

The F-150 also has an available 5.0-liter Ti-VCT eight-cylinder engine. When purchased with the the V-8 power plant, the F-150 has 16 percent power to weight improvement.

The Body

The truck is the first in its class to use high-strength military grade aluminum for the body. In addition to being much lighter, the aluminum alloy body won’t rust. The frame is made from lighter and stronger steel than old style steel frame.

Additional Features

The F-150 sports a 5-star NHTSA crash rating and the front features a 12-sided high-strength steel front frame horn.

Additional features include pro-trailer backup assist, a fully flat floor with under-seat storage, at least one standard wall outlet for charging electronics, a lane keeping system, an optional 8-inch productivity screen, hitch assist, a rearview camera and a tailgate step to make it easy getting in and out of the bed.
